"Love is in the air" - Art Journal Page

Hello Everyone

My regular readers knows, this theme is unusual on my blog..I think I've made journal page with heart, for first time..:)

I started with spritzing inks in yellow and peach shades, added some more colors with broken china and picked raspberry distress stains. Next layer was stamping with text and music stamps. After that, I cut out the hearts from white watercolor paper. Stamped on it with hero arts stamp and versamark. I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I again used inks and stains to get resist effect on embossed heart.
Sharing with Artistic stamper Creative team blog where theme of the month is 'Love is in the air'. And brilliant artist like Alison, Astrid, Titbelsoeur have created inspirational projects, throughout this month.

Mixed Media Layout Tutorial

Hi All !! Shilpa here, with a Mixed Media Lay out and its tutorial. Hope you are liking our latest Challenge#23 -'Scarp your scraps' at Lulupu  by my very talented colleague Pooja.

New year and we are always tempted to buy new crafty products. I am renowned for not being able to throw the smallest scrap of paper away. There are so many ways to use those beautiful scraps right?  So here is my take on this fortnight challenge theme...

Since I knew I was going to share this project here on the Lulupu blog, I've taken the photos of each step to show what wonders you can make from Scraps!.
Let's begin the fun...

Here you can see how I have arranged the scraps. always do hit and trial before you stick em all.

Then I decided to create a Balloon. I had first cut another piece with Hot Air Balloon shape. Then I cut curved patterns and glued. You can see those all are different and from scraps.

So I started off  with my Chipboard square piece which I use often !! I layered paper strips horizontally  and adhered them with Modge Podge

Here, you will see thin  white layer on the base, that's Gesso. Gesso is a primer which is used in Artwork mostly in painting and mixed media. It gives strength to the base and options to play with lot of colour mediums.

Once the Gesso was dry, I took out my favourite shades of acrylic paints and Gelatos. I smugged the colours on all edges. So this is colour layering.

Next step was to add texture with stamps and stencils. I used Ranger's black Archivel Ink, Adirondak inks, beautiful Kaiserkraft texture stamps, Crafters Workshop stencils and Studio Calico Masks from Lulupu. I used markers and Gelly roll pens too.

I ended up putting a lot. And eventually I wound up with a background I liked!
I did  the same procedure with Balloon.
And when I put together background piece, balloon and words, Voila !

Such fun and easy to make, isn't it ? I hope you enjoyed the tutorial. So, share with us what you make with your leftovers.
Some of you might be new to Mixed Media, if you've any questions about this project, add them below in comments, I'll be happy to answer them.
And entries for 'Scrap your scrap' challenge will end on Jan, 31st.

Our Create a Calendar Challenge is still open till 20th Jan, so you've time to make one and win Rs.500 Gift Voucher from Lulupu Store.

Happy crafting friends !!

"Do It Now" - Positivity Journal

Hello Everyone,

Adding second page in my Positivity Journal. Wise owl is saying 'Do it now', instead of taking stress :). I'd this pre made background with spritzed inks. I added flourishes, flowers, branch and owl with Gelatos. Distressed edges with barn door distress ink.  Lastly, stamped and cut out a sentiment bubble, adhered to the page.
Thanks for looking.

"Clarity" - Art Journal Page

Hello Everyone,

Ideology Tissue wrap paper...., can't get enough of it !! You can see that in the background, beautiful prints. I applied dusty concord distress paint over that. Arranged pattern papers. Then stenciling ! I made the flower and banner and attached. Added hint of white acrylic paint on the whole surface.
I made this Journal page for A Sprinkle of Imagination color challenge. Gez, Trish, Jaine and Magada have created fab inspirational projects, hop over to see them.

Here are the colors  from picture that I followed:

"Silence" - Art Journal Page

Hello Everyone,

Collage with scraps :), that's what I wanted to do here. I've all kinds of bits and pieces from previous projects, which I don't want to throw in the dustbin. So, I brought the coordinating pattern paper scraps on my table and created collage background on my journal page. Then I masked and pounced black acrylic paint to create the image of birds on branch and corner script ( you can see that?). And when it dried completely, I stenciled house with (Unbleached Titanium)  acrylic. I also stamped texture with black archival ink.

Bird Art Journal Page

Hello Everyone,

Birds, butterflies, flowers....don't we love them to add in our journal pages? When I read at Moo-mania, theme is Bird, I tempted to make one immediately. For this page, initially,  I spritzed inks (peach, yellow, blue, scarlet) through Crafters workshop Flower frenzy stencil. Stamped music script with blue ink pad and finnabaire stamp. Added some distressing at edges, my background was ready. Adhered white thread  as well. I had this bird print image in my stash, I colored it with soft pastels, colors to match with background.

"Create and Inspire" - Positivity Journal

Hello Everyone,

'Positivity Journal'- is going to be special journal of 2014, for me! I've created small journal(size 9.5" *5.5" ) with variety of pages like colored and white card stock, watercolor, inked,Kraft, and corrugated papers. I'll be creating and posting with this unique theme for this whole year(one of my resolution :)).
Positivity journal is a Astrid's idea. She is a very talented Mixed media Artist and DT at various challenge blogs. Idea is to 'select one positive thing happened on that day and make a journal page. Very simple but effective :) and beautiful too. And my today's page is for creativity and inspiration..

I've attached small tag size page on main journal page to create interest. Here is main page..

I really enjoyed making this page. It took me only 35 mins. to make.
'Positivity Journal' is open group, whoever wants to join pls mail to astrid.maclean@yahoo.co.uk, she will guide you through. And we would definitely love to visit each others pages.
